Have you ever wanted to help someone, but maybe you just didn’t know how to? This desire to help others matters, because even if you do not have all the answers right now, maybe one day an idea will come to you that will change everything. Project Mindful Mama is providing support to an area, where for myself, I saw a huge lack of support….
I’ll start by saying THANK YOU to every single person who donated, shared this project and came to assemble the care packages. You are a part of something that is so much more than you know. I truly feel this project is bringing change to this world, raising awareness for families who may be in need during a crisis situation that is often overlooked. Maybe not even overlooked, but an area where we just didn’t know how to help….
Official fundraising February 18th – 28th
Project Mindful Mama 2017 is here!!!
“See a need, fill a need”
When tsunamis hit we think of sending care packages, when homes burn to the ground neighbors begin collecting blankets and food for families in need. When someone is diagnosed with a terminal illness we begin to think how to fund that persons dream, wish or vacation. Help is all around and that is such a beautiful thing, yet there are many areas where little or no help and support is available. This years theme for Project Mindful Mama is “See a need fill a need” from one of our families favorite movies, Robots. My entire thought process behind this Project was that there was little help for families during some of the most difficult moments they will ever face. Maybe not even the worst battle, but it’s damn near impossible to sit there and unknowingly watch your child’s health decline to a point where everything in your families life stops….
Pulling up to the entrance of the Women’s and Children department of Central Dupage Hospital took me back to all the times I stood there previously, not one of those times was I left with a happy memory. So, immediately when pulling up the front doors to deliver the care packages I was hit with a huge wave of emotions, I felt happy and intense grief all at once. I’m pretty sure this was a healing moment for myself, to be back under such drastically different circumstances. When I asked a staff member how many families the PEDS ICU currently had, all I could do from that moment was hold back my tears….
2016 fundraising is a wrap!
I want to formally thank every single person who took time to help me with raising funds and collecting items. I think I have said this about 100 times, but your outpouring of generosity has completely overwhelmed my heart. From people donating their own personal cash, to buying items like the Starbucks gift cards and Tangle Jr. toys. Also a special thanks to The Facebook Group The Mommy District who started an amazon fundraiser to help fill the bags Just a few days ago SUNSTAR GUM(the children’s crayola toothbrush company) informed me that they are sending product and I’m excitedly awaiting to find out what that includes. Each and every donation has made it possible to help reach fifty families.
The Mommy District helped collect 50 toothbrushes, 50 travel toothpaste, 50 mouth wash, 49 lotions, 50 facial cleansing wipes and 42 hair brushes
These items are patiently awaiting to fill the care packages…
Let’s talk totals…
Together we raised over $1,800 dollars WOW!
We will be delivering 50 full care packages
The only modification that was made, we will have 30 of the Thirty One Tote bags and 20 bags will be bulk purchased reusable black totes.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
You all have made Project Mindful Mama a success and a dream of mine come true. I can’t wait to share the rest of this amazing journey with you. Stay tuned, because there is much more to come. Next I’ll be ordering all the supplies, packing the care packages and last, but definitely not least(The best part actually) delivering the care Bags to Central Dupage Pediatric ICU!
I think it’s safe to say this dream is becoming a reality…
“Project Mindful Mama is a dream come true; I hope we can help families while being mindful of their needs and the hardships they are currently facing.”
Finally, I want to thank my friend Alicia Francione who has dedicated herself to guiding me through this new adventure in fundraising. She helped create the check sheets and organize groups to help collect items. “You are amazing, thank you for inspiring me with your love and generosity everyday!”
