2018 Project Mindful Mama Completed

Project Mindful Mama

Project Mindful Mama 2018 is officially completed!

Where to begin… Well, I’ll start by being completely transparent and admit that I dropped the ball! This post is the official ending of the 2018 Project Mindful Mama fundraiser, that I typically have posted shortly after the deliveries in March. Due to extreme circumstances and a difficult personal life this year I literally burned every last ounce of mental energy to get the job done. Then, immediately after the deliveries were completed I collapsed with exhaustion and had to focus the remaining energy completely on my children’s current needs. With that said… Each and every one of the one hundred Project Mindful Mama bags were delivered to local hospitals. These hospitals have been beyond thankful for everyone’s generous contributions.

There is one benefit to this post being late…On account of my tardiness I have an official letter from one of the hospitals. This letter is from Alexian Brothers Women and Children’s Hospital in Hoffman Estates. When I received this letter my heart filled with so much joy and reassurance that the project is working…

Dear Trina,

The entire Child Life team at Amita Health Alexian Brothers Women and Children’s Hospital would like to thank you for your kind, generous, and thoughtful donation of Mindful Mama bags! We were able to share your comfort bags to many mothers in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. As you may know, being in the hospital can be a very stressful and difficult time for pediatric patients and their families. Our main goal is to provide a sense of normalcy and comfort during their hospital stay. With your donation, we were able to achieve our goal and bring smiles to their faces, especially mothers. The items provided in the comfort bag brought so much joy to the mothers and families in our PICU. From the movie and popcorn to the generous Starbucks gift card, the mothers were over-the-moon to have someone think especially of them.

On behalf of the Child Life Department, pediatric nursing staff, patients and their families, thank you so much for your generous donation.  We could not do our jobs without people like you!

Project Mindful Mama fundraiser could not have been possible with out each and every donor. I want to personally thank everyone who shared the project via social media or made contributions. Sending a huge shout out to the local Facebook group, The Mommy Districts, who helps every year to organize an online fundraiser through the group to reach our goal. Also, Mark Klimkowski of Blistex in Oak brook, Illinois, who two years now has made a donation of lotions and lip balms. Thank you, Thank you everyone, this project has moved hearts and hopefully supported families in times of hardship.
